Near-Record Number of New CCHPs in Third Quarter

Certified Correctional Health Professional status was attained by 130 individuals in the third quarter of 2023, representing the best third quarter since 2017. The strong quarter helped boost 2023 as the best year for new CCHPs since 2017. Specialty certification was earned by 11 mental health professionals (CCHP-MH), five clinical providers (physician, NP, PA) (CCHP-CP), and seven registered nurses (CCHP-RN).

“We are delighted that interest in becoming a CCHP remains strong” says Matissa Sammons, MA, CCHP, vice president of certification. “We spoke to a lot of people at the National Conference in Las Vegas and answered a lot of questions. People are excited about showing that they have measurable expertise in correctional health care.”

The CCHP board of trustees congratulates them all. The certifications were effective October 1, 2023.
