A Unique Professional Development Opportunity
NCCHC surveyors play an important role in advancing quality correctional health care. They visit facilities across the country to assess compliance with NCCHC standards, share their expertise, and provide constructive feedback that helps organizations strengthen their systems of care.
Serving as a surveyor also offers significant professional benefits. Surveyors gain an in-depth understanding of NCCHC standards and accreditation, see how health services are delivered in a variety of correctional settings, exchange ideas with other experienced professionals, and bring new perspectives and practical approaches back to their own organizations.
Before conducting surveys, new surveyors complete an intensive training program designed to build a shared understanding of NCCHC standards and the survey process. They then gain hands-on field experience alongside veteran surveyors before conducting surveys more independently.
For LaToya Duckworth, MHA, BSN, CCHP-N, Innovating Incarceration Consulting, LLC, the opportunity is closely connected to her commitment to correctional health care.
“I am very excited about being a surveyor consultant for NCCHC! It will provide me with another opportunity to continue my passion for providing quality health care in the correctional setting. I look forward to building relationships and working toward common goals as part of the NCCHC family.”
