The CCHP program awarded 206 CCHP and specialty certifications based on exams taken in the first quarter of 2026—making it the strongest first quarter of testing in the program’s history. This includes 179 newly certified CCHPs. These figures reflect exams based on NCCHC’s 2018 Jail and Prison Standards (administered prior to February 25) as well as the 2026 Standards.
Specialty certifications were earned by 14 mental health professionals (CCHP-MH), four clinical providers (physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners—CCHP-CP), and nine nurses (CCHP-N). The mental health exam transitioned to the 2026 NCCHC Mental Health Standards on April 1.
“Certification is more than a credential—it’s a commitment to excellence in a setting where the stakes are high and the challenges are complex. The record number of professionals earning the CCHP in this first quarter reflects a growing recognition that standards-based practice is essential to delivering safe, effective, and accountable care in correctional settings,” said Vice President of Certification Matissa Sammons, MA, CCHP.
The CCHP Board of Trustees congratulates all newly certified professionals. All certifications became effective April 1, 2026.
