New CCHP Count Hits Highest in Eight Years

In the third quarter of 2025, 136 dedicated professionals achieved the Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP) credential—underscoring the growing commitment to excellence and professionalism across the field. As correctional health care continues to evolve with new standards, technologies, and expectations, these individuals have distinguished themselves by demonstrating the knowledge and accountability required to deliver high-quality care.

Specialty certification numbers remain strong, with some programs setting new records:

  • 2 earned the CCHP–Mental Health (CCHP-MH) specialty certification. With 26 new professionals earning their CCHP-MH, it is one of the best years for the program.
  • 5 earned the CCHP–Clinical Provider (CCHP-CP) specialty certification
  • 16 achieved the CCHP–Registered Nurse (CCHP-RN) specialty certification—a record quarter for this specialty certification

“It’s been an extraordinary year for certification,” said Matissa Sammons, MA, CCHP, NCCHC Vice President of Certification. “Interest in the CCHP program is the highest we’ve seen since 2017, and it speaks volumes about the dedication of professionals in our field. Earning a CCHP isn’t just about passing a test—it’s about a personal commitment to improving patient care and advancing the standards of correctional health.”

The CCHP Board of Trustees extends its sincere congratulations to all who achieved certification this quarter. All credentials became effective October 1, 2025.
