In the second quarter of 2025, 173 individuals earned the Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP) credential—affirming their commitment to quality care in correctional settings. Even as facilities face staffing shortages and other challenges, these individuals have taken extra time to demonstrate their expertise and knowledge. New certifications for all programs are at or above this time last year.
- 9 earned the CCHP-Mental Health (CCHP-MH) specialty certification
- 5 earned the CCHP-Clinical Provider (CCHP-CP) specialty certification
- 15 earned the CCHP-Registered Nurse (CCHP-RN) specialty certification
Matissa Sammons, MA, CCHP, NCCHC Vice President of Certification, said “I want to especially call attention to the 40% growth we’ve had in new CCHP-RNs this year. Nurses are the backbone of health care operations and we’re very proud to have a program that recognizes their critical role. Of course, everyone contributes to a quality correctional health care program. Together, we’re building a workforce grounded in excellence and united by a shared mission.”
