National Institute of Corrections Seeks Input on Professional Health and Wellness

Researchers funded by the National Institute of Corrections are seeking effective strategies, policies, practices, and resources to address corrections job stress and trauma through input from officers, community corrections workers, probation and parole officers, case managers, educators, healthcare professionals, and chaplains.  NIC and the field know that exposure to danger, trauma, disease, and long working hours can lead to high levels of work-related stress and fatigue as well as diminishing health, safety, and job performance outcomes for correctional staff and leaders.

The survey will provide foundational information and guidance for NIC’s future work to improve the health and wellness of our correctional professionals.  The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete. Participants will be asked about their agency, institution and facility type, correctional position, environment, exposure to danger, and working conditions.  The survey also asks some optional demographic questions as well as educational background and years in corrections.

Please respond by May 30, 2025.
