New Members Elected to NCCHC Board

NCCHC welcomes three new members to its multidisciplinary Board of Representatives.

Commissioner Mary Ann Borgeson is the newly appointed board liaison for the National Association of Counties (NACo). Borgeson has been a Douglas County (NE) Commissioner representing District #6 since 1995, having won reelection seven times. She was the first female to be appointed chair of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, a position she has held repeatedly since 1997. She replaces Christopher Rodgers, MPA, MBA, who represented NACo for 10 years.

Paula Oldeg, MD, CCHP, a board-certified emergency medicine specialist, joined the board as the American College of Emergency Physicians liaison. Dr. Oldeg oversees all medical, mental health, and dental services for individuals incarcerated in the St. Louis County Jail – Buzz Westfall Justice Center in Clayton, MO, along with medical services for youth housed at the Saint Louis County Family Courts Juvenile Detention Center. She replaces Eileen Couture, DO, RN, CCHP-CP, who represented ACEP for 17 years.

Joshua Sung, PA-C, CCHP-MH, new board liaison for the American Academy of Physician Associates, provides acute and chronic medical and psychiatric care for incarcerated individuals throughout central Virginia with Rappahannock Creative Health. He is also a clinical preceptor in the physician assistant program at James Madison University. He replaces Peter Ober, JD, PA-C, CCHP, who had represented AAPA since 1998.

NCCHC is supported by the major national organizations representing the fields of health, mental health, law, and corrections. Each supporting organization names a liaison to the NCCHC Board of Representatives to create a robust, multidisciplinary governing structure that reflects the complexities of correctional health care.
