In Memorium: B. Jaye Anno Award Winner Kenneth L. Faiver, MPH, CCHP

Author, surveyor, and correctional health leader Kenneth L. Faiver has passed away. He worked in correctional health care for more than 35 years and shared his vast knowledge of the field through his extensive writings.

Mr. Faiver’s most important works include Health Care Management Issues in Corrections and Humane Health Care for Prisoners: Ethical and Legal Challenges.

Mr. Faiver held senior positions in the field including director of health care for the Michigan Department of Corrections and chief medical coordinator for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Department of Health.

He received the B. Jaye Anno Award of Excellence in Communication from NCCHC in 2017. He was also a lead surveyor for NCCHC prison and jail accreditation.

“Ken’s contributions to NCCHC and the field were notable. He was a pioneer in bringing correctional health care to the forefront,” said Deborah Ross, CCHP, CEO of NCCHC.

Mr. Faiver was a University of Michigan Pew Doctoral Fellow in public health and had a masters of public health from the same institution. He also held graduate degrees in labor and theology.
