Health service accreditation survey

Survey

The length of the survey depends on the size of your facility and the complexity of health services provided but, on average, is usually one to two days. Surveys can be undertaken at your facility or virtually or in a hybrid format.

Our survey teams are made up of experienced physicians, nurses, health administrators and other health professionals who understand corrections and combine that knowledge with their professional expertise. The survey team will:

  • Review health records, policies, and procedures
  • Interview health staff, correctional officers, and incarcerated persons
  • Tour the facility.

At the end of the survey, an exit conference will be conducted to discuss their preliminary findings.

NCCHC approaches surveys as an educational experience for you and your staff. We are committed to helping you to achieve compliance with the standards and to benefit from the accreditation experience.

“I am very satisfied with the process of our recent survey. The lead surveyor was professional, encouraging and a wealth of education and learning opportunities. The visit definitely gave me the tools I need to maintain a well-functioning medical unit.”

“The lead surveyor was incredible to work with and was very ‘real’ in her approach to the staff, administration, security and inmate-patients. My three days with her were productive and positive. Her team members were all great to work with and possessed the same outstanding skills.”
