NCCHC’s flagship event, the National Conference on Correctional Health Care, will take place virtually November 2-4. The comprehensive program will cover the full range of concerns for correctional health professionals, highlighting issues of mental and medical health, substance abuse treatment, and nursing, legal, juvenile, administration, and quality issues.
To maximize learning opportunities, the conference includes a week of preconference online seminars taking place October 26-30. These compact sessions will offer focused learning on suicide prevention, NCCHC standards, CQI and correctional nursing.
On top of the many chronic and critical physical and mental health issues facing the incarcerated, COVID-19 has posed additional challenges. Eight sessions will meet the need for information on how COVID-19 is affecting correctional institutions, including legal issues, supply chain challenges, occupational health, telemedicine, infection education, and treatment.
Combined with the preconference seminars, the conference offers a record-breaking 80 hours of continuing education for physicians, nurses, dentists, psychologists, and certified correctional health professionals. Social workers are eligible for 27 hours. To make it easier to participate and collect CE, attendees can watch the sessions live or after the event through December 2.
NCCHC CEO Deborah Ross, CCHP, notes “One thing we’ve seen this year is that, the more educated and prepared your staff are, the better the quality of care, health, and safety your facility will experience. It’s more important than ever to find ways to learn and connect.”
