Nation’s Correctional Health Care Experts to Meet in Atlanta

Critical topics such as reducing suicides, treating opioid addiction and gender dysphoria are all on the agenda for the National Commission on Correctional Health Care’s Spring Conference, to be held May 2-5, 2020, in Atlanta.

The conference will feature more than 50 educational sessions on clinical, administrative and legal aspects of health care behind bars. In-depth preconference seminars will explore key issues such as medication-assisted treatment (MAT), quality improvement as well as NCCHC’s Standards for managing medical and mental health care delivery in prisons, jails and juvenile facilities.

“Correctional health care affects public health, safety and recidivism. The conference helps staff and leaders learn about best practices in improving efficiency, safety and patient outcomes” says NCCHC CEO Deborah Ross, CCHP. “Participants say there’s no better way to learn from each other than by meeting and freely asking questions and exchanging information.”

Participants can earn up to 26.5 hours of continuing education credit by attending the conference and preconference seminars. Other highlights include opportunities for networking, breakfast roundtable discussions, educational lunches and an exhibit hall featuring valuable products and services.

All conference activities take place at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. For more information or to register, visit www.ncchc.org/spring-conference.
