SUMMARY:MOUD for Detained Youth: Barriers and Solutions
DESCRIPTION:This webinar examines the epidemiology of the current crisis of opioid overdose deaths among juveniles in the United States. It highlights the growing impact of illicitly manufactured fentanyl and the ease with which adolescents can access illicit substances through social media platforms. The session reviews diagnostic criteria for juvenile opioid use disorder and outlines evidence-based treatment options\, with particular emphasis on the role of buprenorphine in the management of opioid use disorder in youth. \nThe webinar will also explore barriers physicians report when considering medications for opioid use disorder for juvenile patients and presents practical strategies to address these challenges.
